Zalipsky Yakov Moiseyevich (18.10.1925, Cēsis) — worker. G.'s mother, Zalipskaya Evgenia (1900), during the First World War of 1914 was evacuated from Latvia to Gomel. In 1923, the Z. family returned to Latvia, Cēsis, and in 1928 moved to Riga. Z. completed 6 grades at an incomplete secondary Jewish school in Riga. During the evacuation years, worked at an artel in Astrakhan and at the “Oktyabr” collective farm in the village of Belyayevka, Chkalov Oblast. In 1945, the Z. family returned to Riga. In 1943, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the Soviet Army. Having received a war wound in 1945, he was recognised as a Group 2 invalid. In the 1940s, worked as assistant electrician in Riga and as a cutter in a shoe artel.
In 1947, Z. accepted USSR citizenship.
