Strashun (Straschun) Movsha (Mowscha) Girshyevich (24 June 1927, Dvinsk — today Daugavpils) — technician-technologist.
Movsha Strashun was born into the family of locksmith Girsh Movshovich Strashun (1893, Dvinsk — 1942, Gorky region) and housewife Sheyna Gutmanovna Strashun (née Surits; according to other sources — Lutovna) (1892, Dvinsk — 1967, Riga).
During the Second World War, he was evacuated to the village of Vodoliyka in the Gorky region (1941–1945). He fought on the Baltic Front in the 319th Rifle Regiment and was awarded the medal “For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945,” as well as jubilee medals. He served in the Soviet Army until 1951.
After demobilisation, he worked as a cutter, workshop foreman, and shift supervisor at the leather and footwear combine “Spars,” later renamed “Daugava,” then merged with the “Erglis” factory, and eventually reorganised into the production association “Rekord” (1951–1980).
He was married to Fanya Davidovna Minina (1931, Gomel, Belarus); the marriage was childless.
In 1980, Movsha Strashun received permission to emigrate to Israel, where his sisters were living: since 1971, Minna Girshyevna Milman (née Strashun) (1923, Dvinsk), and since 1973, Freida Girshyevna Milman (née Strashun) (1921, Dvinsk).
