Movshenson (Mowschensohn) Rashel (Rachel) Alfredovna (10 September 1940, Riga) - manual worker.
Rashel Movshenson was the daughter of Alfred-Charles Movshenson (1916, Saint Petersburg — 1947, Riga) and Estere Medov (née Alterman, later Movshenson) (1909, Vilani).
During the years of the German occupation, Rashel remained in Riga together with her mother; thanks to her parents’ mixed marriage, the family survived the Holocaust. In 1958 she completed nine grades at Riga Secondary School No. 40. From 1958 to 1960 she worked as a laborer at the Daile combine. In 1960–64 she was a seamstress at the Rigas Aditais factory. In 1965–72 she worked as a receiving clerk at the Liga production association. From 1973 she was a customer-order clerk at the Rigas Modes production association.
In her marriage to Anatoly Liban (1938, Donetsk Region), which ended in divorce in 1966, a daughter was born: Inessa Liban (1964, Riga). In the early 1970s she married Chaim Burd (1930, Odessa).
In 1972 Rashel Movshenson received permission to emigrate to Israel upon the invitation of her mother’s cousin, David-Nachman Alterman (1908, Ludza), who had emigrated from Latvia in 1935; however, she did not leave the USSR. In 1979 she again received permission to emigrate to Israel, this time upon the invitation of her second husband’s daughter, Asya Shor (née Burd) (1956, Riga).
