In 1956 she graduated from Riga Medical School No. 1 with a qualification as a feldsher-midwife. In 1956–59 she worked as a midwife at the district hospital in Krustpils. In 1962–65 she was a midwife at Riga City Hospital No. 2; in 1965–66 at Riga City Hospital No. 3/1; in 1967–68 at Riga City Hospital No. 4. In 1969–71 she worked as a nurse at Polyclinic No. 10 in Riga.

In marriage with Khona Morein (1924, Jēkabpils), two children were born: Roza Morein (1961, Riga) and Bene Morein (1965, Riga).

In 1971 Shulama Morein received permission to emigrate to Israel to join her husband’s sister, Khana Kreizler (née Morein) (1922), who had emigrated in 1939 to the territory of what is now the State of Israel.
