Together with her mother, her aunt and her younger brother, she was evacuated to the Gorky region, where they lived until the end of the Second World War (1941–1945). She returned to Riga in 1945 and completed the Workers’ Evening School in 1953.

She and Abram Ilyich Levshtein (1926, Dvinsk) had a son, Gennady Abramovich Levshtein (1954, Riga), and twins, Asya Abramovna Levshtein (1958, Riga) and Ilya Abramovich Levshtein (1958, Riga).

In 1972, Sheina Levinshtein received permission to emigrate to Israel, where her uncle, Auva Davidovich Shamir (1901, Jerusalem), resided.
