Heidenreich Mark Nikolayevich (b. 1 July 1929, Odesa, Ukraine) – engineer.

Mark Heidenreich was born into the family of career military officer Nikolai Emmanuilovich Heydenreich (b. 1909, Valmiera, Latvia – d. 1943, Magadan Region) and Maria Aronovna Heidenreich (née Kogan, b. 1908, Mykolaiv, Ukraine), a labourer.

Note: In 1938, in Baranovichi (Belarusian SSR), Nikolai E. Heidenreich was convicted by the Special Council and sent to the Magadan Region, where he died in 1943. In 1958, the Military Tribunal of the Leningrad Military District reviewed the case, revoked the decision, and closed the case due to lack of evidence. He was posthumously rehabilitated.

Until 1941, Mark lived with his mother in Odesa. From 1941 to 1945, they were evacuated to Fergana in the Uzbek SSR. After returning to Odesa, he completed his secondary education at School No. 42 in 1948 and graduated from the Telecommunications College in 1950.

He was assigned to work in Irkutsk, where he served in the city’s radio communications directorate (1950–1952), and then in the Soviet Army (1952–1959) in Novosibirsk and Semipalatinsk (Kazakh SSR). After demobilisation, he worked in Semipalatinsk as an interference engineer in the Directorate of Radio Relay Networks (1959–1962) and as a radio technician at the local airport (1962–1963).

After relocating to Riga, he held various positions: quality control inspector at the Kommutator plant (1963–1964), process engineer at military unit 53683 (1964–1965), senior engineer at the Avtoelektropribor factory (1965–1966), radio technician at military unit 22402 (1966–1969), electrician at the Somdaris enterprise (1969–1974), and at Branch No. 2 of the Rekord footwear production association (1974–1977).

He was first married to Zoya Timofeyevna Kakhovkina (b. 1929, Ogni, Altai Krai), with whom he had two daughters: Irina Markovna Heidenreich (b. 1954, Prenai, Lithuania) and Larisa Markovna Slobodnik (née Heidenreich, b. 1955, Novosibirsk). This marriage ended in divorce in 1971.

His second marriage to Zhanna Vladimirovna Kolesnikova (b. 1936, Shakhty, Donetsk Region, Ukraine) was childless and dissolved in 1979.

In 1979, Mark Heidenreich was granted permission to emigrate to Israel, where his mother’s cousin, Raya Semenovna Shoikhet, and her husband Mikhail Yisrailevich Shoikhet (b. 1900, Mykolaiv) had lived since the 1920s.
