Zilberblum (Silberblum) Yefim Izevich (b. 21 June 1958, Birobidzhan, Jewish Autonomous Region, Khabarovsk Krai) — engineer.
No information about Yefim’s father is recorded in the documents. His mother was Sheindlya Itskovna Zilberblyum (née Shvartsman, b. 1929, Proskurov).
Yefim Zilberblum graduated from the Khabarovsk Institute of National Economy in 1977. That same year, he worked as a transporter at the Universal Cable Plant in Khabarovsk. From 1977–1979, he served in the Soviet Army in Barabash (Far Eastern Military District).
From 1979–1980, he worked in Birobidzhan as an electrician and radio operator at the regional radio center’s radiobureau. After moving to Latvia, he worked as a carpenter and later as a senior engineer at the industrial association “Baltija” in Liepāja (1980–1981). From 1981–1983, he worked as a supply engineer in the kolkhoz “Draudzība” (Saldus District).
In Riga, he held several positions: supply engineer in military unit No. 12912 (1984–1985), senior engineer at the Administration “Glavavtodorsnab” (1985–1987), head of the supply department at the construction management “Latavtostroy” (1987–1988), deputy chairman of the cooperative “KMIS” (1988–1989), and from 1989–1990, deputy director of the head enterprise “Komplekt,” where he worked as a leading engineer.
He married Evgenia Borisovna Zilberblum (née Bober, b. 1963, Gorky — today Nizhny Novgorod). Their son, Ilya Yefimovich Zilberblum,was born in Riga in 1987.
In 1990, Yefim Zilberblum received permission to emigrate to Israel, where since 1971 his wife’s aunt (her mother’s sister), Bronislava Yefimovna Bershadskaya (née Rysina, b. 1946, Riga), had been living.
