Zhitlovskaya Mara (?, Riga - ?), singer.

Mara Zhiltovskaya performed at the Riga Jewish Theatre for three seasons. On the advice of E. Shklyar, she began to study singing seriously: she studied for three years in Vienna with Prof. A. Wolf. She performed on the opera stage in Pressburg, then at the Pittsburgh Opera House. Her voice was a dramatic soprano of considerable power and velvety timbre. In 1934-1937, she toured Morocco, France, Poland, and Jerusalem. She sang in theatres in Bratislava and Tel Aviv. In Tel Aviv she perfected her skills with L. Sibiryakov and L. Lipkovskaya. In 1932, 1933, and 1937, she toured Riga, performing at the Jewish Theatre. In 1938 and 1939, she performed as a soloist in the summer concerts of the RSO. In 1939-1940, she performed at the Riga Jewish Theatre. On 26 May 1940, she sang at the National Opera (Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana).

Zhuravleva's repertoire included opera arias by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn, Gustav Wolf and others. She also performed Jewish folk songs, songs by Roskin, Engel, S. Rozovsky, and songs by Palestinian composers Polyakov, Gelbert, and Venetsky.
