Zaks (née Dolgitser) Meri Konstantinovna (born 22 February 1915, Riga) – shop assistant.
Meri Zaks was the daughter of Kusmel Dolgitser (born 1871, Vitebsk – died 1942) and Doba Dolgitser (born 1888, Vitebsk – died 1933).
In 1932, Zaks completed nine classes at Zaneman’s School in Riga. From 1932 to 1935 she worked as a shop assistant in Borts’ jewellery shop at 3 Brīvības Street, Riga. From 1935 to 1940 she worked as a shop assistant in Zusman’s jewellery shop at 5 Audēju Street, Riga. In 1940–41 she was the manager of a Riga jewellery shop at 5 Suvorova Street.
During 1941–45 she worked as a tax agent in Stalingrad Oblast. In 1945, Zaks returned to Riga and until 1947 worked as a goods manager in the Silk and Knitwear Trust. From 1948 to 1950 she was warehouse manager and quality control master at the Riga Jewellery Factory.
Married to David Zaks (born 1910, Ape, Valka District). They had a daughter, Eleonora Zaks (born 1949, Riga).
Her half-brother Boris Dolgitser (born 1894, Riga) left Latvia in 1929 and was living in Uruguay in the 1960s. Another half-brother, Naum Dolgitser (born 1899, Riga – died 1933), was killed in a car accident.
During the Holocaust, her father and brothers – Khaim Dolgitser (born 1897, Riga – died 1942), Leiba Dolgitser (born 1910, Riga – died 1942) and Aron Dolgitser (born 1913, Riga – died 1942) – and her sister Tilya Movshovich (née Dolgitser) (born 1907, Riga – died 1942) – perished.
In 1964, Meri Zaks received permission to emigrate to Israel at the invitation of her sister Nekhama Ruksin (née Dolgitser) (born 1916, Riga).
