Yungman Iosif Moiseevich (19.09.1907, Krustpils) – violinist. He received a higher education. In 1919 he moved with his family to Riga, where he enrolled in school and began studying violin. From 1922 he worked in a cinema orchestra. In 1924–1930 he studied at the Riga Conservatory, where he began teaching. In 1926 he was admitted as first violin to the orchestra of the Riga State Theater of Opera and Ballet, and simultaneously worked as concertmaster at the Liepāja Philharmonic, at the Riga Symphony Orchestra of the Jelgava Philharmonic, and at the Ķemeri Symphony Orchestra. In 1930 he left for Berlin to continue his musical education at the Higher Music Academy. There Yu. twice received the Fritz Kreisler monetary prize. In 1933 he returned to Riga. In 1934–35 he was on military service. In 1935–41 he engaged in concert and teaching activities. In 1941 he again joined the orchestra of the State Theater of Opera and Ballet. In that same year he was evacuated with his wife to Alma-Ata, where he worked at the State Theater of Opera and Ballet as first violin and soloist. In 1943 he moved to Ivanovo at the government invitation of the head of the Arts Administration of the LSSR, to work in the State Arts Ensemble of the LSSR, where he worked as a violin soloist and orchestra conductor. In 1944, on returning to Riga, he was admitted as assistant teacher in the violin class at the State Conservatory, at the music college, and at the 10-year school, and also to the philharmonic as a violin soloist. In 1950–52 he worked as a teacher at the music school of the Kirov District of Riga. From 1952 — member of the orchestra of the LSSR State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. In 1971 he received permission to leave for Israel for permanent residence. On 8.03.1938 he married Yungman (née Tukatsier) Mariya Abramovna. In the marriage daughter Rabiner (née Yungman) Yelena Iosifovna was born.
