Pesya Volynskaya was born into the family of butcher Yosel Abramovich Lurye (d. 1924, Rositsa) and homemaker Brayna Yankelovna Lurye (d. 1925, Rositsa). She completed three years at the local primary school and trained as a seamstress, working in private workshops from 1910 to 1917. After moving with her first husband to Harbin, China (1917–1920), she was a homemaker. From 1920 to 1936, she worked as a seamstress in private workshops in Harbin. In 1936, she moved to Riga, where she was supported by her daughters.
From her marriage to Isaac Volynsky (1887–1920, Harbin), she had a daughter, Revekka Isaakovna Golovchiner (née Volynskaya) (b. 1918, Harbin).
From her marriage to Leiba Tovyevich Pichotnik (b. 1890, Poland – d. 1961, Israel), she had a daughter, Esther Leibovna Rozenman (née Pichotnik, formerly Rud) (b. 1925, Harbin).
In 1970, Pesya Volynskaya applied for permission to emigrate to the United States, where her first husband’s son from a previous marriage, Yakov Leibovich Paton (b. 1915, Poland), was living. Her request was denied.
In 1971, she received permission to emigrate to Israel, where, since 1936, Abram Pukin (b. 1904, Bil’dzhugi), a cousin of her daughter’s second husband, had been residing.
