In 1941, Anna Verbelova was evacuated to the Yaroslavl Region. That same year, she worked as a waitress in public catering canteens in the town of Sudislovo. From 1941 to 1942, she was employed as a factory worker at the Taimaz plant in Namangan Region, Uzbek SSR. From 1942 to 1945, she worked as an assembler in the electronics department of the Ordzhonikidze Metal Structures Plant in Chelyabinsk.

In 1945, she returned to Riga, where, until 1962, she was a homemaker. Between 1962 and 1965, she worked as a shop assistant in various Riga household goods stores. In 1965–66, she worked at a kiosk in Jūrmala.

She was married to Shmerel Verbelov (b. 1915, Valdemarpils). They had three daughters: Fania Verbelova (b. 1945, Riga), Bella Verbelova (b. 1947, Riga), and Karmella Verbelova (b. 1959, Riga).

Two of her sisters perished in the Holocaust: Basya Maler (1916–1941, Riga) and Sima Maler (1920–1941, Olaine).

In 1966, Anna Verbelova received permission to emigrate to Israel, invited by her husband's sister, Khaya Chenstokhovskaya (née Verbelova) (b. 1912, Valdemarpils).
