Tayts (née Knokh?) Genya (Bella) Motelevna (24.02.1922 — birthplace illegible, status unknown) — hairdresser-makeup artist, during the Great Patriotic War — prisoner of the ghetto. She was born into the family of a gardener. In 1928—1934 she studied at the basic school in Viesīte. In 1934 she enrolled at the Jēkabpils State Gymnasium, graduating in 1939 with a specialization in “theatrical hairdresser-makeup artist.” During her studies she traveled to Riga every summer to work at a theatrical studio and private hairdresser's. In 1940 she married and moved to Riga. When the fascist occupiers arrived, her husband? and G. Tayts's brother evacuated to the Soviet interior; she herself, together with her parents and sister, was seized and confined to the Riga ghetto, where her relatives soon perished during an action for the mass extermination of Jews. On the eve of the next action, on 19 December 1941, G. Tayts managed to escape from the ghetto. For nearly three years a family living in Riga on Visvaldis Street hid her in the cellar of their house, saving her from death. Having survived the occupation and recovered from a long illness, G. Tayts attended evening music school. In 1955 (presumably) she enrolled in hairdresser-makeup artist advanced training courses, after which until 12.01.1957 she worked in her specialty at the Riga Film Studio.
