Text of the plaque fixed on the ohel erected over his grave:
The rabbi, the Gaon, the elderly one — \
for seventy years a teacher of righteousness and rabbi \
to various congregations in Israel he was; \
from ninety years of righteousness this man — \
the city of Riga, its people, people of the heart, \
clung to him first and placed him at its head. \
And in the city of Boston his splendor and glory faded; \
in his precious books he shed the dew of his Torah. \
Two are they for honor and glory until: \
upright interpretations in Kerem Shlomo, \
he wrote halakhic rulings in Leshad HaShemen. \
May the memory of the rabbi Shlomo Dov Baruch \
be engraved; his soul shall rise to the hidden treasuries; \
his righteousness and his Torah shall plead on our behalf. Amen. \
The Rabbi Shlomo Dov, \
son of the Rabbi Gedaliah \
HaKohen \
Sprince. \
Born 1 Adar 5599. Passed away 15 Iyyar 5689. \
This monument is for eternal memory and in gratitude \
to the members of the Congregation Beit HaKnesset Ohel Yaakov in East Boston, \
who were a support to Rabbi Sprince for about twenty years.
