Native of the town, born in the year 5604 (1844).

He served as rabbi here from the year 5648 (1888).1) He encouraged the local Jews to send their children to yeshivas.

He passed away in Dvinsk, 7 Tevet 5681 (18 December 1920).

An approbation from him appears in Mafteach HaHalakhot (Warsaw 5667).

Ohalei Shem, p. 8. There it is written that his father's name was Yehuda Leib.
