Born on 25 Sivan 5672 (10 June 1912) in Zilupe, to his father who was the local ritual slaughterer.
He studied at the yeshivas of Riga, Ponevezh, and Mir.
He served as rabbi from 14 Adar II 5700 (24 March 1940).1)
He perished in the Holocaust together with the members of his community on 14 Menachem Av 5701 (6 August 1941).
