Safern-Fuchs Israel Meshullam Zalman (17 March 1911, Bolshovtsy, Austria-Hungary — 1 June 1942, Braslav, Vitebsk Region) — rabbi, Doctor of Philosophy.
Israel Safern-Fuchs was a German citizen. He completed secondary school and a yeshiva in Vienna, as well as a yeshiva in Sosnowiec (Siedlce Province, Poland). He furthered his studies under Rabbi I. Rozin (the Rogachov Gaon) and was ordained by the Sosnowiec rabbi L. Fromer and the Vilna rabbis G. Eiges and H. O. Grodzenski.
From 22 June 1936, he served as a rabbi in prayer houses in Daugavpils.
At the beginning of the Nazi occupation, he was imprisoned, then interned in the Daugavpils ghetto. In autumn 1941, with the help of religious Jews, he managed to move to Braslav.
He was killed during the mass murder of the prisoners of the Braslav ghetto.
