Latvia and Rabbis

1)
R. Avitzinsky writes in Di Geshikhte that he served as rabbi from approximately 5624. But in the newspapers HaMelitz and HaTzfirah it is written that he served here as rabbi for 43 years, meaning he was accepted as rabbi around 5616, while his brother-in-law was still serving here as rabbi. Moreover, he was accepted as a member of the Chevra Kadisha here on Chol HaMoed Pesach 5617. In the marriage registration book of this community he appears as officiant of kiddushin from the month of Iyyar 5619 (May 1859) onward.
