Ester-Khaya Plinere was born into a lower-middle class family.
In 1901, she graduated from the Mariinsky Women’s Gymnasium in Pskov. In 1913, she completed the law department of the Bestuzhev Higher Women’s Courses in Saint Petersburg.
From December 1927, serving as an acting teacher, she taught history, geography, and Russian language at the State Jewish Gymnasium in Rēzekne, where she continued teaching until the summer of 1941.
