Paul Aaron Bezalel (19 July 1871, Dinaburg, Vitebsk Governorate [now Daugavpils] – 8 December 1941, Riga) -Rabbi.

From early childhood, Aarom Bezalel Paul showed exceptional abilities. He studied at a gymnasium in Lomza (Poland), and at the yeshivas of Lomza, Kovno (Kaunas, Lithuania), and Volozhin in the Vilna Governorate (now in Belarus).

At the age of 17, he was ordained as a rabbi by the prominent rabbis M. S. Katz-Kagan in Daugavpils and R. Shapiro in Volozhin. At age 20, he enrolled in the Faculty of Philosophy and Philology at the University of Königsberg.

In 1906, he took up the position of rabbi in Rosenau (Zilupe), where he served for 13 years. During World War I, he organized aid for refugees from Courland and Lithuania. In 1918, under German occupation, he was appointed head of the town council in Rosenau.

From 1919 to 1941, he served as rabbi in Jaunjelgava. Thanks to his tireless efforts and financial support from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (“Joint”) and former residents of Jaunjelgava living in the U.S., a Jewish religious school building was constructed in the town.

He was elected to the Jaunjelgava city council and served for eight years as deputy mayor. Beginning in 1925, he held the position of director of the city's Jewish primary school and was also a member of the Jaunjelgava branch of the Red Cross. He was elected as a member of the Jaunjelgava city council and served for eight years as deputy mayor.

One of the most respected and beloved rabbis in Latvia.
