Mostov Movsha (Mowscha) Itsikovich
(20 April 1921, Riga) — clerk.
Movsha Mostov was born into the family of a tailor, Itsik Mostov (according to other sources, Isaak Efimovich Mostov) (1893, Drissa, Belarus; today Verkhnyadzvinsk — 1956, Riga), and a homemaker, Etta Movshovna Mostova (1893, Vabalninkai, Lithuania; today Vabalninkas — 1967, Riga). He completed primary school (1928–1935) and worked as an apprentice decorator for a private entrepreneur (1935–1941).
He was evacuated to the town of Khaidarken in the Kirghiz SSR, where he worked as a mine hauler at Combine No. 5 (1941–1942). In 1942 he was drafted into the Soviet Army but was demobilized due to illness in 1943. He returned to Khaidarken and worked as a registrar at the local outpatient clinic (1943–1945).
After returning to Riga, Movsha Mostov worked as a decorator at the “Maksla” combine (1945–1951). In 1951 he moved to the town of Kansk in Krasnoyarsk Krai, where his wife and daughter had been exiled, and worked as a forwarding agent at the local Textile Combine (1951–1956). After returning to Riga, he worked as a sales clerk at Gorpromtorg Shop No. 2 (1956–1959), and later at Shop No. 50 of the Riga Textile, Clothing, and Footwear Trade Organization (1959–1969).
In marriage to Rokha Shlyomovna Mostova (née Gordon) (1925, Dvinsk; today Daugavpils), two daughters were born: Shulamite Movshovna Mostova (1950, Riga) and Evgeniya Movshovna Mostova (1957, Riga).
In 1969 Movsha Mostov received permission to emigrate to Israel, where since 1936 his wife’s aunt (the cousin of her mother), Sarra Koen, had been living; she had left for what was then Palestine in search of work.
