From 1925 to 1935, she worked as an apprentice and later as a worker in private tailoring workshops in Liepāja. Between 1935 and 1940, she was employed as a seamstress at the Riga firm “Dribin.”

During evacuation to Tashkent, Milshtein worked at a local textile combine. After returning to Riga in 1945, she did not resume employment.
