Rozaliya Medvinskaya was born into the family of an artisan, Yulius Nusimovich Meyerovich (died 1933, Odessa), and Betya Gedalyevna Meerovich (died 1928, Odessa). In 1979 Rozaliya Medvinskaya received permission to emigrate to Israel, where since 1972 her first cousin (the daughter of her mother’s sister), Dina Balkina (née Pliner) (born 1903, Rezekne), had been living.
