Rēzekne / Rezhitsa

Known by the name R. Yona Potashna.

Born here in 5559 (1799).

He served here as dayan and rabbinic decisor until 5607 (1847), when he moved to serve as dayan in Kherson.

On 1 Marcheshvan 5619 (1858) he ascended to the Land of Israel and settled in Jerusalem, where he passed away on 12 Shevat 5623 (1 February 1863), and his resting place is on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.
