During the war years she was evacuated to Kungur District of Perm Region, where in May 1942 she worked on a collective farm, and in 1943–1945 worked as a cinema projectionist in a cinema. In 1945 she arrived in Ludza District, and from 1947 lived with her family in the town of Zilupe. Until 1956 she was a homemaker. In 1956–1957 and again in 1959–1960 she worked as a supervisor at the Zilupe District Industrial Combine. In 1960 she moved to Riga and worked at the procurement office of the Latvian Consumers’ Union (Latpotrebsouz). From 1964 to 1967 she worked as a receiving clerk at the “Zvaigzne” factory. In 1967–1970 she was a cashier at the municipal services enterprise “Laimdota”. From 1970 she was classified as a Group II invalid. In 1971 she applied for permission to emigrate to Israel for permanent residence.

In 1945, in Ludza District, she married Itsik Leibovich Lyakhovsky. The marriage produced two daughters: Lusya Isakovna Lyakhovskaya and Maria Itsikovna Shrifteilik (née Lyakhovskaya).

Her father, Mikhail Solomonovich Manoim (1883–1941), was a trader and glazier. Her mother, Khana-Leya Uryevna Manoim (1882–1941), died in 1941.
