Lifshits (Lifschitz) (née Katz) Gita Hirshevna (1 October 1914, Rezekne) — childcare worker.

Gita Lifshits graduated from the Jewish Gymnasium in Ludza in 1932. From 1932 to 1940, she worked as a childcare provider in the Riga households of the Klixman, Israelson families and others. During 1941–45, she served as a nurse in a hospital in the town of Sarapul, Udmurt ASSR. In 1945, she returned to Riga, where she devoted herself to raising her children and managing the household.

From 1963 to 1965, she worked as a ward attendant at the Riga City Inter-District Procurement Office. In 1965–66, she was employed as a cleaner at Food Trade Shop No. 56 in the Proletarsky District of Riga. In 1967–68, she took on various temporary jobs. In 1968–69, she worked as a container receiver in shops of the Moscow District of Riga. In 1969–70, she worked as a cleaner in the “Venta” Housing Construction Cooperative. From 1970 onward, she was a pensioner.

Her marriage to Shmuel Lifshits (1904, Griva, Daugavpils District) was dissolved. In the 1970s, her former husband left Latvia. The marriage produced the following children: Zinaida Perchikova (née Lifshits) (1943, Cheboksary, Chuvash ASSR), Brokha Kameraz (née Lifshits) (1945, Riga), and Moisei-Hirsh Lifshits (1947, Riga).

Gita Lifshits’s mother, Sofia Katz (née Super) (1877, Ludza – 1966, Riga), is buried in Riga. Her father and sister, both natives of Ludza — Hirsh Kats (1876, Ludza – 1941, Riga) and Riva Kats (1907, Ludza – 1941, Riga) — were shot in the Riga Ghetto. Her brother Mordukh Katz (1915, Kovnaty, Rezekne District – 1942, Staraya Russa) was killed in action. Her sister Sonia Sheskina (née Katz) (1910, Ludza) moved to Paris in 1932 and lived in Israel in the 1970s. Her sister Judith Sheskina (née Katz) (1904, Ludza) lived in Johannesburg, South Africa, in the 1970s. Her sister Raya Gelfand (née Katz) (1922, Kovnaty, Rezekne District) lived and worked in Belarus in the 1970s.
