From 1928 to 1935 Roza Levitanus worked as a sales clerk in a shop in Daugavpils. Beginning in 1930 she took part in the illegal revolutionary movement, joining the underground MOPR organization, where she served as a courier for an underground cell. In 1935, while posting leaflets, she was arrested. From 1935 to 1937 she was imprisoned in the Daugavpils prison.
After her release she moved to Riga, re-established ties with the underground organization, distributed illegal literature, and carried out other assignments. After Soviet occupation of Latvia she worked at the Serensek canning factory.
From 1941 to 1945 Roza Levitanus was evacuated to the Gorky region of the USSR, where she worked on a collective farm. After the end of the Second World War she returned to Latvia and from 1945 to 1948 worked as a personnel inspector in the labor supply department of the Latvian Railway.
From 1948 to 1953 she did not work, dedicating herself to raising her son and daughter. From 1953 to 1977 she worked at the Somdaris industrial plant as a worker and QC controller.
In 1971 Roza Levitanus was awarded the Order of the October Revolution and three medals, including the medal “For Distinguished Labor.”
