Kvits (Kvitz) (née Meller, later Vilenchuk) Khaya (Chaya) Mikhaelovna (b. 23 January 1920, Poltava) — accountant.

Khaya Kvits was the daughter of Mendel Meller (b. 1893, Žagarė – d. 1943, Fergana) and Sarra Meller (b. 1894, Romny, Ukraine – d. 1957, Riga). In 1937 graduated from Kaunas Gymnasium. Worked as an accountant at the joint-stock company Alperovich in Kaunas (1937–40) and at the Lithuanian Consumers’ Cooperative (Lietuvos vartotojų kooperatyvas) (1940–41).

In 1941, together with her husband, Leib Vilenchuk (b. 1911, Kaunas – d. 1944), she was imprisoned in the Kaunas ghetto. In 1943 she was deported to the Stutthof concentration camp in Germany, while her husband was sent to Dachau concentration camp. After liberation in 1945, she returned to Kaunas, where until 1946 she worked as a kindergarten teacher at the Kaunas Shipping Company’s ORS (Labour Supply Department).

From 1946 to 1952 she was a senior accountant in the artel Stakhanovietis. In 1952 she moved to Riga, where until 1961 she was a homemaker. Later she worked as an accountant at the Riga Children’s Toy Factory (1961–62), the Brīvība factory (1962–63), and at Riga canteens Nos. 59 and 3 (1963–66).

In her second marriage, with Mendel Ioselevich Kvits (b. 1910, Žagarė), she had a daughter, Lyubov Kvits (b. 1953, Riga).

Her sister, Sulamit Meller (b. 1922, Poltava), emigrated from the USSR in 1957 as the wife of a Polish citizen and was living in Israel in the 1960s.

In 1963 Khaya Kvits submitted her first application to emigrate to Israel; it was approved in 1966.
