Khait (Heit) Motel Elyevich (24 August 1934, Riga) — shoe cutter.

Motel Khait was born into the family of the shoemaker Ilya Lazarevich Khait (1901, Rēzekne — 1951, Riga) and the factory worker Esther Isaakovna Khait (née Zarzhavskaya) (1900, Ludza).

During the war he was evacuated to Zakamsk, where he attended primary school (1941–1945). After returning to Riga, he studied until the 6th grade at Riga Secondary School No. 1 (1946–1949) and later at Riga Evening Secondary School No. 14 (1949–1950).

Because of his father’s illness, he left school and began working. He was an assistant repair technician for cinema equipment (1950–1951), a procurement worker at the “Spars” artel (1951–1953), and served in the Soviet Army (1953–1956).

After demobilization he again worked as a procurement worker at the “Spars” combine (1956–1960). Later he worked as a shoe cutter at the “1. Maijs” shoe factory (1960–1969), the “Ērglis” shoe factory (1969–1971), and again at the “1. Maijs” shoe factory (1971).

In marriage with Lyubov Moiseevna Khait (née Berezina) (1937, Varakļāni) a son was born: Ilya Motelevich Khait (1961, Riga).

In 1971 Motel Khait received permission to emigrate to Israel, where his aunt — Doba Zuselovna Miller (1903), a cousin of his mother — was living.
