Born here, to his father mentioned above.

He served as rabbi here from 56101) (1850) until 5616 (1856), when he was accepted as rabbi in Liepāja (see there) and served there until his passing on Motzaei Simchat Torah, 5642.

Avitzinsky in his book Toldot Yeshivat HaYehudim BeCourland, p. 105, letter vav, writes that he was rabbi here from 5609, and likewise writes in Di Geshikhte, p. 128 (on p. 183 there he writes from 5606), but he himself writes in Toldot that he was accepted as rabbi after the passing of R. Dovber (mentioned above), and in Di Geshikhte writes that he passed away in 5610.
