Liepāja / Libau / Libava

Born in 5602 (1842) in Suvalki, to his father who served in the rabbinate in Haluschki, Vilkaviski, Suvalki, and Plungyan, and author of the responsa Amudei Or and more.

In the years 5620–5637 (1860–1877) he served as rabbi in Yanishok in Lithuania, in the years 5637–5641 (1877–1881) as rabbi in Hasenpoth, and afterward moved to serve as rabbi here.

He passed away here on 27 Tammuz 5683 (11 July 1923).

Author of the book Yafeh Nof, responsa, novellae, homilies, and commentary on the Haftarot (Piotrków 5668).

Approbations from him: LeDaber Mesharim (Piotrków 5661), Nefesh HaGer (Piotrków 5666), Shem HaGedolim HaShlishi (Vilna 5670).

A letter from him was printed in the monthly Sinai, vol. 78, p. 52.
