Guryeva (née Dimant) Itella (1940, Daugavpils) — engineer.
Itella Guryeva was the daughter of Isaak Dimant (1905, Daugavpils – 1959, Riga) and Feiga Dimant (née unknown, 1901, Zilupe). In 1941, she and her family were deported from Latvia. Her father had been a prominent merchant of optical instruments, employing hired labor in his enterprise, which had an annual turnover of 183,000 lats. He also made substantial donations toward arming the zemessargi during the Ulmanis regime. The Dimant family was removed from the special settler registry in 1956.
From 1958 to 1971, Guryeva worked as a quality controller at the VEF factory. She was an optician at the Riga Pharmaceutical Optical-Mechanical Factory in 1961–62, and a draftswoman at the Riga branch of “Teploelektroproyekt” in 1963. From 1963 to 1965, she worked as a designer at the “Kvele” factory. Starting in 1965, she was employed as an engineer at the design institute “Latkommunproyekt.” In 1968, she graduated from the Riga Polytechnic Institute with a degree in industrial thermal energy engineering.
She married Viktor (Vitold) Guryev (née Riskin, 1937, Leningrad), and they had a son, Izidor Guryev (1962, Riga). In 1972, Itella Guryeva received permission to emigrate to Israel.
