Introduction to his book Ezer Mishpat.
Here lies
the great Gaon
Rabbi Eliezer,
son of the Torah scholar
Rabbi Avraham Goldschmidt,
of blessed memory.
Pure truth and uprightness, his qualities;
in great scholarship, without fear,
he rendered verdicts and upheld the justice of Torah.
His love, his wisdom, and his luminous countenance
spread peace in the world greatly.
Dayan and Av Beit Din in Tel Aviv
and in the Great Rabbinical Court in Jerusalem —
thirty years.
A distinguished product of the Knesset Yisrael yeshiva
in Slobodka and in Hebron,
who knew the greatness of man and his dignity,
and acted righteously for the sake of others.
Born 8 Tishrei 5670 in Yanova (Lithuania).
Passed away with a good name, 28 Adar II 5752,
in Jerusalem, may it be built and established.
May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
