Gendina (Zakharevich) Manya Berkovna (1 July 1909, Riga) – Clerk.

Manya Gendina was born into the family of Zakharevich Berko Shapshelevich (b. 1868, Belarus – d. 1931, Riga) and Zakharevich (Ryzhik) Mera Kusielevna (b. 1875, Lukomel, Belarus – murdered by the Nazis in 1941, Riga). She graduated from Riga Gymnasium in 1926 and later from the Faculty of History at the University of Latvia in 1936. While studying, she was employed as an accounting clerk—initially at the Riga Loan and Savings Bank for Artisans (1932–1939), and then at the Baltic Wallpaper Factory (1939–1941).

Manya Gendina was evacuated to the city of Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod), and later relocated to the town of Krasnoselsk in the Bashkir ASSR, where she worked as a bookkeeper in a transport cooperative (1941–1945). Upon returning to Riga, she worked as an accountant at the Baltic Office of Glavkhimbyt (1945–1948). From 1948 to 1951, she was a homemaker. In 1951, she worked as a secretary at Secondary School No. 23, and from 1951 to 1964, she was once more a homemaker. In 1964, she worked as a seamstress at the Riga District Public Services Complex. Although she officially retired in 1964, she worked as a cutter at the Multi-Industry Home-Based Labour Combine in 1966.

She was married to Donkhio Yakov Israilevich (b. 1910, Ostrov, Pskov Region – d. 1961, Moscow); the couple had no children. The marriage was dissolved in 1949.

She later married Hendin Zamuel Moiseevich (b. 1904, Riga); the couple had no children.

In 1981, Manya Gendina was granted permission to emigrate to Israel, where her husband’s brother, Haim Moiseevich Hendin (b. 1920, Riga), had been residing since 1964.
