Gazul Benjamin Morris (1898, Latvia – 1962, USA) – physician and public figure. Considered the father of paediatric cardiology in the United States.

At the age of 16, Benjamin Gazul emigrated to the United States and settled in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He graduated from medical school in Chicago and married opera singer Lala Rosenzweig.

In 1939, he was invited to the Soviet Union to lecture to Russian physicians. Until 1945, he worked as a practising paediatrician, and from 1945 onwards, he specialised in childhood heart diseases. He developed academic training programmes in paediatric cardiology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and authored a textbook on the subject.

Gazul also founded monthly medical case conferences known as the “Gazul Club”, providing a platform for doctors to exchange knowledge and experiences in the treatment of paediatric heart conditions. These meetings were of great significance for both seasoned practitioners and young researchers, as well as for the development of American paediatric cardiology as a whole. The club meetings were revived in 2005.
