Fleishman (Fleischmann) (née Hamburg; also Fish) Basya (Basja) Davidovna (18 March 1915, Daugavpils) - seamstress.

Basya Fleishman completed four classes of a Jewish school in Daugavpils and from 1927 worked as a seamstress in private workshops in the city. During the Second World War she was evacuated to the Soviet rear and in 1943–1945 worked as a cleaner in the office “Zagotskot” in Bezenchuk, Kuibyshev region.

After the war she returned to Daugavpils, where in 1945–1948 she worked as a seamstress in the local office “Utilsyrye.” In 1948–1950 she was employed as a worker at the Daugavpils flax factory, and in 1951–1954 worked as a waste collector in the artel “Pishchevik.” From 1954 to 1965 she did not work, caring for her seriously ill husband. In 1965–1966 she again worked as a seamstress at the household services combine in Daugavpils.

In 1936 she married Moisei Fish (1908, Daugavpils – date unknown). In 1942 he was drafted into the Soviet Army and did not return from the front. In 1952 she married for the second time, to Isaak Fleishman (1905 [or 1904], Daugavpils – 1978, Daugavpils).

Her parents, brother, and sister — David Hamburg (1887/1888, Daugavpils – 1941(?)), Rokha (Rakhil) Hamburg (1890/1889, Daugavpils – 1941(?)), Iosif Hamburg (1908, Daugavpils – 1941(?)), and Sheva Hamburg (1924, Daugavpils – 1941(?)) — perished in the Holocaust in the Daugavpils ghetto. Until the 1960s she believed that her brother Ilya (Alex) Hamburg (1912, Daugavpils) had also been killed there, but they were later reunited; it is known that during the war he lived in Riga.

Her first husband’s sister, Edit Slivka (née Fish), lived and worked in Israel in the 1950s. Her brother Ilya (Alex) Hamburg lived and worked in the United States from the 1950s.
