Dolgitzer Girsh (Girsch) Samuilovich (7 August 1899, Riga — date and place of death unknown) — cinema administrator and manager.
Girsh Dolgitzer was born into a working-class family. In 1914, he graduated from a Riga elementary school (possibly the Jewish Chabad Lubavitch school, as he indicated it was located on Lachplesha Street). From 1914 to 1917, he worked as a stagehand at the Music Hall Theatre in Riga’s Vērmanes Park. Between 1917 and 1922, he served as an administrator at the “Marine” cinema also in Vērmanes Park.
From 1922 to 1941, Girsh Dolgitzer was the administrator and later director of the “Grand-Kino” cinema (known in the Soviet era as “Lāčplēsis”). He joined the Art Workers' Union in 1941. During the evacuation (1941–1944), he managed cinemas in Ivanovo (Russia) and Alma-Ata (now Almaty, Kazakhstan). From 1944 to 1947, he was the head of the Riga regional cinema administration (abbreviated RCTC or similar). From 1947 to 1953, he resumed his post as head of the “Lāčplēsis” cinema. In 1953–1954, he worked as the warehouse manager for the cinema equipment repair workshop.
