Dimant Grigorii (b. 1950, Riga – d. 8 December 2007, USA) - singer‑songwriter, guitarist, and a prominent figure among the earliest Latvian rock ensembles.

Early career in Latvia

During the 1960s and 1970s, Grigorii Dimant emerged as a leading member of pioneering Latvian rock bands such as Junior and Dreamers. He toured the North Caucasus with musicians from the group Riga–Transit and performed in the first programme of variety show Jūras Pērle (Sea Pearl), which featured Laima Vaikule.

Emigration and career in the USA

In 1976, Dimant emigrated with his wife Nina and four‑year‑old son Leor, travelling via Vienna and Italy to settle in the United States—first in San Francisco, then New York, and later Los Angeles. He performed in nightclubs, singing Russian songs for the émigré community, and released three solo albums. His best‑known work was My Favourite Songs (1978).

Voice‑over work in Hollywood

In Hollywood, Dimant recorded voice‑overs for approximately 250 films, collaborating with industry giants including Steven Spielberg, Al Pacino, Nastassja Kinski, Sylvester Stallone, and Brigitte Nielsen.

Personal life

His wife, Nina Dimant, became a stylist working in Russia and France, notably designing costumes for Laima Vaikule’s Laima in the Style of Tango show. Their son, Leor Dimant—best known by the stage name DJ Lethal—achieved success as a musician, with his compositions featuring in top European charts.
