Butin Abram Meerovich (October 13, 1916, Daugavpils) - supply officer.
Abram Butin completed secondary school in 1934. During the 1930s, he was a member of an underground Komsomol organization in Latvia and was arrested for his political views, receiving a three-year prison sentence. When the War broke out, he joined a volunteer detachment to fight against the German invaders. While conducting sabotage operations in Estonia, he suffered a concussion. In 1942, he was conscripted into mandatory military service but was assigned to the labor front (peat extraction near Yaroslavl) due to health reasons.
In 1946, Butin returned to Latvia and worked as a supply officer at the Daugavpils City Industrial Combine until 1948. That same year, he enrolled in the correspondence economics program at the Latvian State University but had to withdraw due to family circumstances. In 1960, he was convicted under Articles 2 and 4 of the decree dated June 4, 1947 (abuse of office) and sentenced to seven years in prison. However, in 1970, his conviction was expunged following a petition from the administrative staff of the Riga Tram and Trolleybus Administration. From 1968, Butin had been employed at the Riga Tram and Trolleybus Administration.
In 1973, Abram Butin emigrated from Latvia.
