In 1941, Brovornik was evacuated to the Tajik SSR, where he worked on the Stalin Collective Farm in the Khanakinsky District until 1943. From 1943 to 1944, he worked as a licensed shoemaker at the Khanaka Station.

In 1945, he returned to Riga and worked as a licensed shoemaker in the Kirov District until 1951. From 1951 to 1953, he managed a kiosk in the Uzvara artel. Between 1953 and 1954, he was the manager of a shop in the Nākotne artel. From 1955 to 1961, he again worked as a licensed shoemaker in the Proletarian District of Riga. From 1961 to 1969, he was employed as a shoemaker with Construction Unit No. 02588 in Riga. From 1969 onwards, he worked as a home-based shoemaker.
