Pilda

Pilda — a settlement in Ludza District, Republic of Latvia. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, it was part of Lutsin District, Vitebsk Governorate. From 1918 to 1940, part of the Republic of Latvia, and from 1940 to 1991 — part of the Latvian SSR.

In the early 19th century, several dozen Jewish families lived in Pilda. By 1925, the Jewish population had declined to 14 people. By 1930, only 7 Jews remained.

During the Nazi occupation in the summer of 1941, the Jews of Pilda were murdered near Ludza.
