Indra

INDRA, a village in the Daugavpils District (Republic of Latvia). In the 19th and early 20th centuries, it was part of the Bolbinovo district of Dinaburg, and from 1893, part of the Dvinsk district of Vitebsk province. From 1918 to 1940, it was part of the Republic of Latvia, and from 1940 to 1991, part of the Latvian SSR.

In 1935, 46 Jews (16%) lived in Indra. At the end of July 1941, the Jews of Indra were deported to the Daugavpils ghetto and, a few days later, exterminated in the Pogolyan Forest during the so-called provincial action.
