Iecava

Iecava – a settlement in the Bauska District (Latvian Republic). In the 19th – early 20th centuries, it belonged to Bauska County of the Courland Governorate. From 1918 to 1940, it was part of the Latvian Republic; from 1940 to 1991 – the Latvian SSR.

In 1935, 46 Jews lived in Iecava (0.6%). There was no synagogue in the settlement; on Sabbaths and holidays Jews gathered for prayer in a private home. During the 1920s–30s, Zionist activity in Iecava was particularly active.

At the end of June 1941, Iecava was occupied by Wehrmacht units. In July 1941, all Jews of Iecava were murdered in a nearby forest.
