Riga Jewellery Factory
Riga Jewellery Factory
The history of the Riga Jewellery Factory dates back to 1945, to the Rigas Gravieris cooperative. In 1962, the Riga Jewellery Factory was established through the merger of the Riga Jeweller and Riga Engraver jewellery cooperatives and the Gaisma metal accessories factory. In 1972, the enterprise was granted factory status and, along with it, its current name: Riga Jewellery Factory. During the Soviet era, the enterprise specialised in the production of jewellery and cutlery made of gold (150 types of products per year) with precious and semi-precious stones, silver and nickel silver. It also produced souvenirs from non-precious metals, watches and lighters (petrol, household silicon and piezoelectric; 13 types of products).
In 1990, the factory became a state-owned enterprise of the Republic of Latvia.
The current joint-stock company ‘Riga Jewellery Factory’ was formed as a result of the privatisation of the Riga State Jewellery Factory, with the simultaneous sale of the company's shares on the Riga Stock Exchange.
The main activities of JSC Riga Jewellery Factory are:
• manufacture of jewellery;
• design and manufacture of custom-made jewellery;
• trade and intermediary activities in jewellery;
