Barkan Ilya (1905-?)

Barkan Ilya (25.04.1905-?, Riga). Father - Israel, mother - Esther Shifra. From 1914 he studied at the Riga city grammar school, from September 1919 at the Riga I.Landau grammar school. In September he continued studying at the Riga city Jewish grammar school and graduated in 1923. In 1924 he started studying law at the University of Latvia and graduated in 1931. From 1930 he worked for this office of the sworn advocate V. Reshansky. From September 1931 to July 1932 he completed his obligatory military service in the Latvian army, serving in the 6th Rigan Infantry Regiment as a corporal. From 1935 he was a member of the Zionist organisation “Olim”. From 23rd July 1940, he was an assistant to the lawyer Ansh Petrevitz in Riga. His further fate is unknown.
