Zalmanovich (Salmanowitsch) Samuil Davidovich (16.01.1929, Riga) – tinsmith.

Samuil Zalmanovich was born in the family of a tailor David Girshevich Zalmanovich(1895, Dvinsk, today - Daugavpils - 1969, Riga) and a housewife Lisa Yakovlevna Zalmanovich(1898, Dvinsk - 1971, Riga). He studied at a Jewish school (1936-1941), was evacuated to the city of Shymkent, Kazakh SSR (1941-1945). Returning to Riga, he worked as a laborer at the fur factory “Elektra” (1948-1949), was a tinsmith at the Industrial Combine of the Proletarsky District of Riga (1949), at MU-5 (1950), served in the Soviet Union. Army (1950-1954, Kandalaksha, Murmansk Region). After demobilization, he worked as a bookbinder in the artel “Sarkanais karogs” (1954-1955), was a tinsmith in the artel “Remont” (1955-1967), in the Riga Construction Department of the Ministry of Food Industry (1967-1971), in the Lenin state farm (1971-1973, Salaspils district).

In marriage with Yete Abramovna Zalmanovich (Kapulskaya) (1935, Riga) were born sons Anatoly Zalmanovich (born in 1955, Riga) and Henry Zalmanovich (born in 1961, Riga).

In 1973, Samuil Zalmanovich received permission to emigrate to Israel, where his wife's sister, Roza Abramovna Kaplan (Kapulskaya)(born in 1937, Riga), had been living since 1971.
