Furman Sheina-Eida Shmulovna (1910)

Furman (Fuhrmann) (née Sledzevich; first marriage Daneman) Sheina-Eida (Scheina-Eida) Shmulovna (10 July 1910, Riga) — saleswoman.

Sheina-Eida Furman was the daughter of Shmul Sledzevich (1870, Riga — 1940, Riga) and Mera Sledzevich (née Prais) (1871, Riga — 1940, Riga). In 1924 she completed five classes of elementary school.

From 1928 to 1941 she worked as a saleswoman in the Riga shops of Jakobson, Gurvich, and Levins. In 1941 she was evacuated to the Chuvash ASSR. From 1942 to 1945 she worked at the “Rosglavvino” combine in Cheboksary.

In 1945 she returned to Riga from evacuation and until 1946 worked as a saleswoman at the Riga Central Department Store. From 1946 to 1962 she was a homemaker. Between 1962 and 1966 she worked at the “Pirmais Maijs” factory (later production association).

Her first husband, Solomon Daneman (1904, Liepāja — 1942), was killed in action during the Second World War. In her second marriage to Ilya Furman (1911, Jēkabpils), she had a daughter, Lia Feit (née Furman) (1946, Riga).

Her sister, Khana Sherman (née Sledzevich) (1912, Riga — 1941(?), Riga), perished in the Holocaust. Her sisters Etta Machunskaya (née Sledzevich) (1905, Riga) and Gita Movshovich (née Sledzevich) (1907, Riga) lived in Riga in the postwar years.

From 1961 onward Feiga Furman repeatedly petitioned for permission to emigrate to Israel. Permission to leave, based on an invitation from her husband’s brother Tsvi (Girsh) Furman (1913, Jēkabpils), was granted in 1974.
