In 1941, she was evacuated to Noginsk, Kirov Oblast, where she worked as a seamstress at the “Shevtekstile” factory.

From 1941 to 1944, she worked on the “Varnaki” kolkhoz in Nalinsk District, Kirov Oblast.

From 1945 onwards, she was a homemaker.

In her first marriage to Aleksandr Rubin (b. 1906, Rezekne District), which ended in divorce in 1934, she had a son, Abram Rubin (b. 1933, Riga – d. 1941, Riga).

In her second marriage to Leyba Zveyn (b. 1915, Livani – d. 1941, Riga), she had a son, Dolya Burin (né Zveyn) (b. 1941, Nolinsk, Kirov Oblast), who was later adopted by her third husband.

In her third marriage to Ber Burin (b. 1917, Yaroslavl), she had a son, Samuil Burin (b. 1946, Riga).

During the Holocaust, her son from the first marriage, her mother, her brother Gilel Volozh (b. 1909, Riga – d. 1941, Riga), and her sister Revekka Khalfina (née Volozh) (b. 1918, Riga – d. 1941, Riga) perished.

Her second husband, Leyba Zveyn, was killed in action during the battle for Riga.

In 1973, Emima Burina received permission to emigrate to Israel at the invitation of her son, Dolya.
