Zashagrsky (Saschagrsky) Yakov(28 February 1880, Riga) – public figure.
Yakov Zashagrsky was one of the initiators and founders of Linat Tzedek (“Shelter of Righteousness” – a charitable society); served on the board during the first seven years of the society’s existence. He was also among the initiators and founders of Hachnasat Kallah (“Bridal Dowry Fund”), a member of its first board, and a member of the Union of Hebrew Teachers.
He was an initiator and founder of the literary society Alef, and worked at the Sholom Aleichem school. He was also co-founder and board member of the Tzeirei Mizrachi (“Young Mizrachi” – a religious Zionist youth organisation) in Latvia.
