Yaneklovich Zalman-Peysakh Bentsionovich (5.7.1909, Sabile) – tailor. He completed 5 grades of basic school in Sabile and until 1925 studied the tailoring trade. In 1925—32 he worked as a tailor at the Lilosh workshops in Riga on Jaunas Street. In 1931—32 he did compulsory military service in the Latvian Army. In 1932—41 he worked as a tailor at the Pukin and Mise workshops in Riga. In 1941 Ya. was confined in the Riga ghetto. In 1944 he was transferred to the Stutthof concentration camp, subsequently to the camps of Burggraben and Gottendorf. After liberation in March 1945, he worked as a tailor attached to a Soviet military unit stationed in Lauenburg, Germany.

Ya. returned to Riga in 1945 and until 1950 was a tailor at the Riga invalids' cooperative. In 1950—52 he worked as a tailor at the NKVD workshops. In 1952—61 he was a tailor at the artels “Rīgas Drēbnieks,” “Ādas Galanterija,” “Stakhanovietis,” “Taupība.” From 1961 – tailor at Individual Tailoring Factory No. 2. The war and the occupation of Latvia took the lives of all of Ya.'s close relatives: Ya.'s parents, Yankelovich Bentsion (date of birth unknown – 1941) and Yankelovich Basya (date of birth unknown – 1941), and brother, Yankelovich Shaya (date of birth unknown – 1941), were killed in the ghetto of Sabile. Ya.'s sisters, Yankelovich Khana (date of birth unknown – 1941) and Yankelovich Zelda (date of birth unknown – 1941), and Ya.'s first wife, Yankelovich (née Perboner) Shulamit (date of birth unknown – 1941), were shot in the Riga ghetto. Ya.'s brother, Yankelovich Girsh (date of birth unknown – 1941), went missing. In 1964 Ya. emigrated from Latvia. In the 1960s he lived in Haifa and ran his own tailoring workshop.
